Randon presents stamping 4.0 and increases production capacity to 130 equipment units/day
Automated integrated storage system is the largest in the Americas.
Randon Implementos increased the capacity and productivity of the plant installed in the Interlagos neighborhood, in Caxias do Sul (RS), and did so without increasing the built area in the industrial complex. With the optimization of cutting edge technology resources and the concept of industry 4.0 occupying the same physical space, the company is now able to manufacture up to 130 equipment units per day, considering the synergy and improvements also made in the other industrial units in the country. The previous average of 100 products/day was also increased due to other measures, such as the acrylic parts e-coat coating system, the second assembly and coating line in Araraquara, the additional tipper line in Caxias do Sul, and the new general cargo van line with clinch panel technology in Chapecó.
The major innovation, the advanced automatic storage system and integrated steel sheet cutting, is responsible for the new leap in competitiveness and productivity in the Company's trajectory, and was introduced this Tuesday (01/28) in the presence of representatives from the Randon Companies' Board of Directors, employees, and the entire Randon Distributor Network. Executives from Trumpf, a German supplier, were also present. This system is one of the largest in the Americas and is among the largest in the world in terms of warehouse size this company ever installed.
The project is considered unique within the large global plan of Randon Implementos for capacity expansion - which began in 2018 and was completed in 2020. In stamping alone, the investment is close to BRL 30 million. The internal reorganization resulted in an optimized and more functional layout, prioritizing the production flow, making it easier to manage and to prevent disturbances. The forecast is that 90% of production will go through the new system.
“One of the biggest challenges for the company's growth was the availability of physical space for expansion. We were able to overcome this barrier by investing in innovative systems with intelligent technologies, and even greater qualification of the workforce. In the same physical space as before, we now have a system that makes us three times faster, in other words, we increased our productivity. And we were also able to leave more free space for future expansions,” said Alexandre Gazzi, COO of the Assembly Division of Randon Companies.
This new warehouse has 815 storage positions and over 17 processing stations, with a work capacity reaching 280 tons per day in an area totaling 2,500 m².
Logistics - A new equipment configuration explains why the change in the internal design of the factory resembles that of a house that has undergone renovations and opened spaces where it previously seemed not to exist. Four new optical fiber laser cutting machines will be coupled to the system, and the forecast is to end the year with another one in operation. Overall, the machines were reduced from 51 to 28. With the new technology, the new laser equipment should operate with an average of more that 85% efficiency. This is only possible with automatic feeding and storage, with communication and intelligence between the machines themselves - i.e., industry 4.0.
